In the border village of Malikpur, located in South Dinajpur, West Bengal, several Bangladeshis entered Indian territory at midnight with the intention of smuggling or committing robbery.

When BSF personnel tried to stop them, the intruders began attacking with swords and daggers. In response, BSF fired in self-defense. Some BSF personnel were injured in the attack. One Bangladeshi intruder was captured, who was found in an injured condition. BSF immediately admitted him to Gangarampur Hospital.

The BSF North Bengal posted on X that in the intervening night of February 4 and February 5, 2025, a few Bangladeshi miscreants crossed the IB with the intention to commit smuggling/robbery in the border village Malikpur Distt Dakshin Dinajpur located near the fence. According to X, the BSF challenged them and forced them to run away.

The BSF North Bengal further added that again a group of miscreants in the wee hours of February 5 illegally entered for doing a smuggling/dacoity attempt in the border area of village Malikpur Distt Dakshin Dinajpur. According to BSF, the miscreants were heavily armed with Dahs and sticks and also had wire cutters.

"When BSF party challenged them, instead of stopping, miscreants aggressively attacked BSF party with Dah and sharp edged weapons. BSF party fired non lethal munitions to deter them but Bangladeshi nationals continued their aggression and encircled BSF party. Miscreants tried to snatch the wpn of BSF person and in scuffle BSF person suffered injuries. Sensing threat to the life, BSF person fired on Bangladesh miscreants in self defence resultantly they fled away," BSF North Bengal posted on X.

According to BSF, there was dense fog in the border area, and during the search operation, one Bangladeshi miscreant was found injured.

"The injured Bangladeshi was immediately evacuated by BSF to Gangarampur Hospital for treatment. Dah , lathies and Wire cutter have been recovered from the spot. Medical aid has been given to injured BSF person. BSF stands committed to prevent trans border crimes," BSF posted on X.
