Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, who faced expulsion from Lok Sabha last week over 'cash-for-query' allegations, asked to vacate her official bungalow, NDTV reported citing sources. This comes a day after TMC MP moved the Supreme Court against expulsion from Lok Sabha.
On December 8, Mahua was expelled from the Lok Sabha for 'unethical conduct'. TMC MP, who was not allowed to speak during the discussion inside the House, read out her statement outside the Lok Sabha and said the Ethics panel had no power to expel lawmakers. She continued saying the committed broke every rule.

"This LS has also seen the weaponisation of the Parliamentary committee. Ironically the Ethics Committee which was set up to serve as a moral compass for members instead it has been abused egregiously today to do exactly what it was never meant to do, which is to bulldoze the opposition and become another weapon to 'thok do' (crush) us into submission," Moitra said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Muhua said she will continue her fight inside and outside the Parliament. "I am 49 years old and for the next 30 years, I will fight you inside the Parliament and outside; in the gutter and on the streets...We will see the end of you...This is the beginning of your end...We're going to come back and we're going to see the end of you," she added.
The investigation against Moitra by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee followed after BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and attorney Jai Anant Dehadrai claimed that a TMC MP had accepted favours from Darshan Hiranandani, the CEO of the real estate-to-energy company Hiranandani, in exchange for raising questions in Parliament.
Hiranandani, who allegedly paid Moitra to raise questions in Parliament, claimed that Mahua targeted Gautam Adani to "malign and embarrass Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose impeccable reputation gave opposition no opportunity to attack him".
