The Haryana Government is going to order a CBI probe into the high-profile killing of INLD state unit chief Nafe Singh Rathee, PTI reported citing state Home Minister Anil Vij’s statement in the Assembly.

"If the House is only satisfied with a CBI probe, then I assure the members that we will hand over the case to the CBI," the news agency quoted Vij as saying.

Rathee, a two-time MLA and INLD state unit chief, was on Monday killed after a few unidentified assailants fervidly showered bullets upon his SUV in Haryana’s Bahadurgarh. Three private gunmen hired by Rathee for security also suffered injuries in the attack, news agency PTI had reported.

Haryana Police has named seven persons and registered a case against five in the high-profile murder case of Rathee. The police action was based on the statement made by Rathee’s car driver and nephew Rakesh.

As per a report in Jagran.com, the cases, in this regard, have been registered against BJP leader and former MLA Naresh Kaushik, Ramesh Rathee, former chairman Karamveer Rathee, Kamal Rathee, Satish Namberdar, Gaurav Rathee and Rahul. Besides, cases have been registered against five others as well. However, the assailants are still at large.

The Haryana Government has constituted five teams under the watch of two DSPs. The teams have ascertained a few CCTV videos, where the car of the shooters was located following the Rathee’s vehicle. Later, the car was also seen escaping the crime scene after the murder of the INLD leader.

The Haryana assembly today witnessed heavy ruckus as Opposition legislatures raised issue of law and order in the state. The MLAs demanded that Rathee’s murder case should be  probed  either by a high court judge or a high court judge-monitored CBI investigation.

Rathee’s family, on the other hand, refused to cremate the former’s body until the assailants were arrested. “The police administration is sitting silent. My family and I are not getting security. My father was demanding security for five years. My father was a national leader. All political parties should have supported my father before he was murdered,” Rathee's son Jitendra told ANI.

“We will not conduct a post-mortem until the accused are arrested. We have again gotten the names of those people,” the slain INLD leader's nephew Kapoor said.
