India-Pakistan News:After it was announced that India and Pakistan had come up with a ceasefire understanding, which was to take place from 5 pm on Saturday, drones were sighted in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, followed by sounds of explosions.
After intense cross-border missile and drone strikes, India and Pakistan had decided to cease all the hostility across air, land and sea; but what followed later in the night was termed as a breach of the ceasefire understanding.
Jammu and Kashmir was shocked, seeing a series of drones followed by sounds of explosions. Armed forces later intercepted the attacks by employing an air defence system.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a rushed press conference held at 11 pm on Saturday, informed that there was a violation of the ceasefire understanding in the evening and that the armed forces had given an adequate and appropriate response.

Here’s what happened after Pakistan breached the ceasefire understanding
- Blackouts were reimposed in several districts of Punjab as a precautionary measure after it was removed early on Saturday. Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Pathankot, Patiala, Moga, Kapurthala, and Muktsar districts were placed under blackout.
- Power was restored in Amritsar, but the city remained under Red Alert, the Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar said in a statement at 5:24 am. We have restored the power supply for your convenience, but we are still on red alert. Sirens will sound now, indicating this red alert. Please don't move out of your house; stay indoors and away from windows. We will be informing you when we get the green signal. Please ensure compliance and please don't panic," the statement said, according to ANI.
- Several cities in Gujarat were also placed under blackout measures to avoid any unpleasant situation. The blackout was declared in Kutch, Jamnagar, Santalpur Taluka, Patan and Banaskantha. Several drones have been spotted in the Kutch district. A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe, don’t panic,” Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi wrote in a post on X.
- According to PTI, a blackout was declared in Rajasthan too, sending Jaisalmer and Jodhpur into the dark.
- An Army trooper was injured in Nagrota of Jammu and Kashmir following his violent engagement with a suspect spotted near the perimeter of the city’s military station on Saturday evening, the White Knight Corps said.
- Amid tensions, the foreign ministry in Islamabad said that Pakistan "remains committed to faithful implementation" of the truce and blamed India for the violations. "Notwithstanding the violations being committed by India in some areas, our forces are handling the situation with responsibility and restraint," it said, according to AFP.
President of the United States, Donald Trump, on the evening of Saturday, announced that India and Pakistan had agreed to cease cross-border hostilities, as he congratulated the leadership of both sides.
In the latest development, Donald Trump, sharing a post on the social media platform Truth Social, on the morning of Sunday, said that the ‘powerful leadership of India and Pakistan’ have agreed to stop the current aggression. “I am proud that the USA was able to help you arrive at this historic and heroic decision. While not even discussed, I am going to increase trade, substantially, with both of these great Nations. Additionally, I will work with you both to see if, after a “thousand years,” a solution can be arrived at concerning Kashmir,” Trump added in his Truth Social post.
