Chandigarh Traffic Advisory: Several Roads To Be Closed, Bus Routes Diverted On January 26; Check Alternate Routes

Chandigarh Republic Day Traffic Advisory: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, multiple roads in Chandigarh will remain closed, with traffic diverted for the day. The restrictions will be in effect from 6:30 am until the conclusion of the main event.

The primary programme will take place at the Parade Ground in Sector-17. In view of this, the police have issued a detailed traffic and security advisory. Except for emergency vehicles, movement of all other vehicles will be prohibited in the restricted zones. Special parking arrangements have also been made.

Chandigarh Republic Day Parade: Prohibited Items at Venue

Visitors are not allowed to carry bags, matches, knives, cigarettes, weapons, alcohol, inflammable substances, electronic devices, black flags, banners, or posters inside the programme venue.

The police have appealed to citizens to use alternative routes during the specified hours, follow traffic rules, and fully cooperate with the security arrangements. These measures are essential for public safety and the smooth conduct of the event, officials said.

Chandigarh Republic Day Traffic Advisory: Roads Under Traffic Restrictions

- From Sector 16/17 and 22/23 roundabout to Gurdial Singh Petrol Pump in Sector-22A (Udyog Path)

- From Old District Court, Sector-17 to Shivalik Hotel behind the Parade Ground

- From Lions Restaurant, light point (near MC Office) to Parade Ground

- From Sector 22/23 light point to Sector 16/17-22/23 roundabout

- From the small chowk in Sector 16/23 to the Sector 16/17-22/23 roundabout

Changes In Parking Arrangements

-Normal parking in front of shops in Sector-22A market will remain closed from 6:30 am.

-Special invitees with authorised car parking labels will be allowed to park in Sector-22A market via Udyog Path from the Sector 16/17 and 22/23 roundabout (Cricket Stadium chowk).

Designated Parking Areas For General Public At Chandigarh Republic Day Parade

-Sector-22B parking

-Circus Ground, Sector-17

-Parking near Neelam Cinema, Sector-17

-Multi-storey parking, Sector-17

Bus Route Diversions

-Buses heading towards ISBT Sector-17 will be diverted from Kisan Bhawan chowk and Piccadilly chowk via Himalaya Marg to the small chowk near Gurdial Singh Petrol Pump, then to ISBT.

-To manage crowds after the event, general traffic on Udyog Path from ISBT Sector-17 chowk will be stopped from 11:30 am to 12:15 pm. During this period, only buses will be permitted to move.

Important Guidelines For Attendees

-All invitees must take their seats by 9:15 am.

-Special invitees: Entry through Gate Nos. 6 and 7 (from Sector-22 side)

-General public: Entry through Gate Nos. 8, 9 and 10 (from ISBT Sector-17 side)

-Media personnel: Entry through Gate No. 5 (from Sector-22 side)

-Everyone must carry original photo identity proof.

-Special invitee vehicles must display authorised parking labels and invitation cards on the windscreen.
