The Ministry of Railways is increasing the coach capacity of a major Vande Bharat Express in South India. From September 24, the Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli train, the country’s 27th Vande Bharat, will be expanded from 16 to 20 coaches.
The upgrade will add 312 more seats, raising the train’s total capacity from 1,128 to 1,440. According to The Indian Express, the expansion comes in response to high occupancy and steady demand on this busy route. The revised configuration will include 18 standard Chair Car coaches and two Executive Chair Car coaches, a notable increase from the original 16-coach setup launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
