Chennai Metro On Uber: In a major step toward enhancing urban mobility, Chennai Metro commuters can now purchase QR-based metro tickets directly within the Uber app. This new feature, launched on August 7, 2025, comes through a strategic collaboration between Uber and Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), using the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) interoperable network.

With this integration, commuters not only gain the convenience of booking their metro tickets via the Uber platform but can also access real-time transit information to plan their journeys more efficiently. All payments for metro tickets will be processed exclusively via UPI, streamlining the transaction process for users.

This move follows Uber’s earlier partnership with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), where it enabled QR ticketing for Delhi Metro riders, according to Hindustan Times.

In addition, commuters taking Uber Auto or Uber Moto to or from any metro station in Chennai will receive 50 per cent off (up to Rs 20) per ride. These promotional offers are valid for the entire month.
