Chennai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rain activity for multiple Tamil Nadu districts on Thursday. Heavy rain is likely to occur in Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Ramanathapuram districts. Moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected in Chennai today.

As per IMD, the cyclonic circulation Ditwah is shifting southwestward along the north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast. As per the weather body, it will develop into a low-pressure area over the next 24 hours.

Chennai and Tiruvallur district administrations have closed schools as a precautionary measure as waterlogging continues to affect these areas.

December 5: Light to moderate rain at a few places (at many places over South Tamilnadu; at a few places over North Tamilnadu) with thunderstorm & lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu and over Puducherry & Karaikal area.

December 6: Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamilnadu and over Puducherry & Karaikal area.
