Chennai News: A software engineer in Tamil Nadu’s Thazhambur, a locality in Chennai, electrocuted himself as he was reportedly depressed due to the work pressure. The victim, a native of Thenu, has been identified as 38-year-old Karthikeyan. He had been working at a software firm in Pallavaram for the past 15 years. The incident took place when Karthikeyan was alone at his home on Thursday night. When his wife returned home from the temple, she found him lying unconscious with wires wrapped around him, according to the police. The incident comes after amid the social media storm over the death of Anna Sebastian Perayil, a 26-year-old Chartered Accountant (CA) working at Ernst & Young in Pune.
He lived with his wife, K Jayarani, and their two children, aged 10 and 8 years, reported Times of India. As per the police, the victim was undergoing treatment for depression at a hospital in Medavakkam for the past two months. He was stressed due to work, the report added.

Jayarani had gone to Thirunallaru temple with her friends on Monday and the children with her mother. Karthikeyan was alone at home, the report added. When she came back in the night, she saw that the door was locked from inside.
When no one opened the door after repeated knocks, she used the spare key only to find her husband lying unconscious.
According to the report, Kathikeyan was wearing undergarments and had his entire body wrapped with a power cable, connected to a main junction box in the hall. She panicked and alerted the neighbours, who then called the Thazhambur police.
