Chennai Coldwave Update: A fresh high-pressure system developing over central India is expected to trigger a significant fall in night temperatures from December 12, leading to cold and dry conditions across many states. Rain Likely In Parts Of Tamil Nadu
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has predicted light to moderate rainfall on December 10 and 11 across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
The rainfall is linked to a trough over the southwest Bay of Bengal.
Between December 12 and 14, isolated showers may occur over south Tamil Nadu, the Delta districts and Karaikal. Light rain could return at a few locations on December 15.
Districts including Vellore, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Erode and Coimbatore are also expected to experience cold and dry air over the coming days.
In contrast, cities along the west coast may witness unusually warm conditions for December, despite the broader regional drop in temperatures.
