Chennai Traffic Advisory: As many people return to Chennai after the Pongal holidays, Tambaram City police are taking steps to ease traffic congestion expected over the weekend.
Heavy vehicles headed to Chennai will be redirected at Chengalpattu and the Kanchipuram Paranur junction, where they will be directed to the Service Road and can continue to their destinations via Sriperumbudur. Those approaching Chennai will be diverted at SP Koil X Oragadam towards Oragadam and Sriperumbudur.
Additionally, heavy vehicles travelling through Thiruporur will be redirected at the Dr. Ambedkar statue to proceed via Chengalpattu. According to a notice from the Tambaram Police Commissionerate, heavy vehicles will not be allowed on GST Road, Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road, OMR and ECR from 2:00 PM on January 18 until 2:00 PM on January 20.
Special Local Trains
To assist commuters, Southern Railways will operate special local trains every 15 minutes. Passengers are encouraged to board at Chengalpattu, Maraimalai Nagar, Potheri, and Kattankulathur stations for quicker travel.

Furthermore, one-way traffic may be enforced on Pallavaram New Bridge towards Chennai from 2 PM on January 18 until noon on January 20, as needed. Omni buses will be rerouted via the Outer Ring Road towards Poonamalle and Maduravoyal to improve traffic flow on GST Road. Other vehicles may also be diverted at the Mudichur road junction towards Tambaram when necessary.
