Chennai Water Cut: A total of 15 areas in Chennai are set to experience a drinking water supply cut for two days, on March 4, Tuesday and March , Wednesday. Water supply will be cut due to major pipeline works by Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL). Authorities have advised the public to store sufficient drinking water in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Chennai Water Cut: Here’s Why
The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) announced that the disruption is due to pipeline interconnection work at Uthamar Gandhi Road and Sterling Road in Nungambakkam. The works will begin at 10 am on March 4 and are expected to continue until 10 am on March 5, as per a DT next report.

Chennai Water Cut Areas Affected
The water supply interruption will impact several key localities in Teynampet (Zone 9), Kodambakkam (Zone 10), and Adyar (Zone 13). Residents in the following areas are likely to experience a 24-hour water supply suspension:
-Choolaimedu
-Nungambakkam
-Mambalam
-Saidapet
-Gopalapuram
-Royapettah
-Mylapore
-Alwarpet

Chennai Water Cut: Here’s How You Can Arrange Water
For those in need of drinking water during the disruption, CMWSSB has assured that water can be obtained through tankers. Residents can request water by registering on the corporation's official website: https://cmwssb.tn.gov.in.
Areas without regular water connections or those experiencing low water pressure will also receive water via tankers and street taps. The water board has promised that these services will operate without any interruptions and follow a systematic delivery process
Given the temporary water suspension, residents are encouraged to store adequate water in advance. Keep an eye on official updates from the CMWSSB and plan accordingly to ensure you have enough supply for the affected period.
