Chennai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday announced that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive rainfall in the upcoming few days. The weather department also issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rainfall in Chennai for the same period of time. It stated that the rainfall in the past few days has provided a major relief to the residents from scorching heat.
The weather department stated that the coastal regions are expected to receive heavy rainfall in the upcoming days, reducing the temperature significantly. It also stated that the rains will be accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds. “Intensity of Thunderstorm activity likely to decrease and Moderate Thunderstorm activity likely to continue for half an hour-one hour,” the weather department stated.
The weather department also confirmed that similar weather conditions are likely to persist for the next few days and urged the residents of the coastal region to limit their outings.
Weather Forecast For Chennai:
April 19: The residents of Chennai are likely to experience cloudy skies and light rain. The average temperature of the city is likely to remain around 35 degrees Celsius.
April 20: The weather in the city is likely to change slightly; however, no rainfall is expected. The weather department clarified that the cloudy skies will bring the average temperature down.
April 21: Chennai is likely to receive heavy rainfall on Monday, bringing another round of cooling. The average temperature is likely to be reduced by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
April 22: The skies in the capital city of Tamil Nadu are likely to turn partly cloudy again, and the rain is expected to stop.
The weather department stated that after April 22, the hot weather is likely to come back. While the daytime temperature is likely to be around 37 degrees Celsius, the nights are expected to be cooler.
