The Galgotia University vacated its stall at the India AI Impact Summit amid the Chiness robo dog row. Video footage released by ANI showed university staff and students leaving the stall, with power to the booth reportedly cut off. A staff member said an official press release will follow to clarify the matter.
The controversy began after a video circulated showing Professor Neha Singh referring to the robodog, stating, “You need to meet Orion. This has been developed by the Centre of Excellence at Galgotias University.” She added that the machine could perform surveillance and monitoring, moving freely around the campus.

Viewers soon identified the robot as a product of the Chinese robotics firm Unitree, prompting accusations that the university had misrepresented it as its own. In response, Galgotias University issued a statement clarifying that it had never claimed to have developed the robot. “Galgotias has not built this robodog, nor have we claimed to do so,” the university said. “What we are building are minds that will soon design, engineer, and manufacture such technologies here in Bharat.”

In a follow-up statement late Tuesday, the university said its faculty and students were deeply pained by what it called a “propaganda campaign.” It emphasised that students have access to modern technologies to gain practical experience, adding that spreading negativity could harm student morale.
Professor Neha Singh also stated that the university had not received any directive to vacate the expo and described Galgotias as a “very responsible institution.”
