The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, on Friday visited the Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, where he worshipped the Ram Lalla deity. The visit which came without much media glare, remained a closed and personal program, Dainik Jagran reported.
Earlier today, the Chief Justice arrived at Ayodhya's Maharishi Valmiki International Airport aboard a special flight. After resting for a few moments at the Sarayu Guest House on the banks of the Sarayu River, he proceeded to Hanuman Garhi, where he worshipped lord Hanuman for around 20 minutes.
Following his Hanuman Garhi visit, CJI went to the newly constructed temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site where he performed puja. On his visit to the historic temple, CJI was welcomed by Champat Rai, the General Secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Vimalendra Mohan Mishra, the head of the Ayodhya royal family and a member of the trust, another trustee Dr Anil Mishra, and Gopal, a senior VHP leader.
Late in the evening, he departed for Lucknow by helicopter. On Saturday, he is scheduled to visit Mirzapur from Lucknow to worship Maa Vindhyavasini at Vindhyadham.
Notably, Chief Justice Chandrachud was part of the five-judge bench which delivered the historic Ram Temple verdict on November 9, 2019, in favour of the Hindu side.
