Cold Supermoon Today December 4: December is set to be a spectacular month for sky-watchers in India, as it brings a series of astronomical events. The year will conclude with an especially striking highlight - the final supermoon of 2025.

This amazing sight will be visible tonight, December 4.The moon will be visible in the east after sunset, reaching its highest point around midnight, and then setting in the west in the morning.

Characteristics Of This Supermoon

According to Suroor Fatima, a scientist at Jawahar Planetarium, this supermoon is called a "cold supermoon". It is the third and final full moon in a series of four supermoons in 2025. The fourth and next supermoon in this series will appear in January 2026.

The most striking feature of this Cold Super Moon is its appearance. It will be very close to Earth, making it appear orange in colour. Its distance from Earth will be approximately 3,57,000 km. Due to its proximity, it will appear 10 per cent larger and up to 30 per cent brighter than a normal moon. This remarkable moon is also known by names like the "Long Night Moon" and the "Moon before Yule."

Cold Supermoon Today: When And Where To Watch

The Cold Supermoon will develop into a full phase around December 4-5. The best view will be available at moonrise in your specific location. At this time, it will seem the largest near the horizon due to the "Moon illusion." To get the best view, one should head out after sunset on December 5 and look towards the eastern horizon.
