Sarma said Rahul’s convey didn’t visit prominent religious places in the state as the yatra was meant to disturb the religious harmony of Assam in the backdrop of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at Ram Temple in Ayodhya. He alleged the yatra was purposely made to pass through Assam during the religious congregation in the temple town.

“Look at the timing of this yatra. They had conspired to fuel a big communal unrest in Assam. We got a sense of that in Guwahati. They purposely decided to pass through Assam during the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony at Ram Temple to instigate violence. Our party leaders and followers of Lord Ram exercised restrain and foiled their plot,” he said while addressing the media.

He also promised to defeat the BJP in the state by a good margin. “I would like to tell Rahul Gandhi that the people of Assam will see you in Lok Sabha for your arrogance. I give you this commitment today…Congress will get an even lesser number of seats in Assam and we will defeat them with a good margin. I promise you this today," Assam CM added.
