Delhi: A 50-year-old man died after being hit by a JCB while crossing a road near Panchsheel Park Metro Station in Delhi on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Brij Kishore Trivedi and was working as a security guard at a house in Panchsheel.

The incident took place during the wee hours of Thursday when the deceased, who was crossing the road, was hit by the JCB and was critically injured, leading to his death. The JCB driver, Sandeep (40) has been arrested by the police. The apprehended man is a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Nawabganj. The deceased's body was shifted to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. Further investigation into the matter is on.

In another incident, as many as four members of a family, including three children died after the car they were travelling in rammed into a bridge near the Sanikere village in Karnataka's Chitradurga on Thursday. Three other persons sustained critical injuries in the incident and were being treated at a hospital.

The deceased were identified as two-year-old Sindhushree, 5-month-old Hayyalappa, three-month-old Raksha and 26-year-old Lingappa. Meanwhile, 

Yallamma (30), Mallamma (20) and Nagappa (35) sustained severe injuries in the accident. The condition of Mallamma is critical.

Prime Facie it appeared that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident. The victims are labourers from Dundammanahalli village in Devadurga taluk of Raichur district. They were travelling towards Bengaluru from Devadurga when the tragedy unfolded.
