The Congress party has suspended its leader, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, the wife of cricketer-turned-politician, Navjot Singh Sidhu, days after she said the couple did not have enough money to give Rs 500 crore to parties to claim the CM post.

Earlier, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said her husband, Navjot Singh Sidhu, will only return to politics if Congress declares him the Chief Ministerial face in Punjab, as she maintained that they did not have crores to give to parties to make Sidhu CM, but can transform Punjab into a ‘golden state’.

"We always speak for Punjab and Punjabiyat...but do not have Rs 500 crore, which we can give to sit in the chief minister's chair," she told reporters on Saturday.

Navjot's Clarification Fails To Please Leadership

Earlier today, through a social media post, Navjot tried to clarify her stand, saying ‘our Congress party has never demanded anything from us,’ but it did not please the upset leadership.

In an X post, Navjot wrote, "I am shocked to see the twist given to a straight comment saying that our Congress party has never demanded anything from us. On being asked about Navjot becoming a CM face from any other party, I stated that we have no money to offer for a CM post. Listen carefully."

Congress leader Sukhjinder Randhawa slammed the Sidhus for 'anti-party' activities.

On the other hand, opposition parties seized the chance to level accusations as AAP questioned whether the 'Rs 500 crore suitcase' goes to the high command or Rahul Gandhi. BJP's Sunil Jakhar and Tarun Chugh called it proof that there is 'institutionalised corruption' in Congress.
