Copra MSP Hike:  The government stated on Friday that, with a budget allocation of Rs 855 crore, the minimum support price (MSP) for copra would increase by up to Rs 422 to Rs 12,100 per quintal for the 2025 season. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) made a decision in this respect.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed reporters that the MSP for "milling copra" has been raised by Rs 422 to Rs 11,582 per quintal, while the MSP for "ball copra" has been raised by Rs 100 to Rs 12,100 per quintal for 2025.

The support price, which was established based on the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) recommendations, applies to milling and ball copra varieties of fair to average grade.

The entire financial implications would be Rs 855 crore.

The minister stated that the MSP has been set at 50% higher than the cost of manufacturing.

The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation (NCCF) will serve as the central procurement agencies for copra and dehusked coconut under the price support scheme (PSS).

Karnataka continues to produce the most copra in the country, accounting for 32.7 percent of total production, followed by Tamil Nadu (25.7%), Kerala (25.4%), and Andhra Pradesh (7.7%).
