New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: Taking the total toll of deaths due to the coronavirus in India to 10, a 65-year-old coronavirus patient has died in Mumbai. This is the third fatality in the metropolis due to the COVID-19, the city civic body said on Tuesday.
The man recently returned from the United Arab Emirates to Ahmedabad. He later complained of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement.
He also had pre-existing ailments, including high blood pressure and severe diabetes, it said. He was brought to the Kasturba Hospital in Mumbai on March 20 for treatment, but his health condition deteriorated further. The man died late Monday evening, the BMC added.
Four more coronavirus cases have been detected in Maharashtra, taking the total number to COVID-19 patients in the state to 101, officials said on Tuesday.
Of the four new cases, three were reported from Pune while one was found in Satara, they said. The patients have been kept in isolation wards and are being provided medical treatment, the officials said.
However, as many as 12 COVID-19 patients in Mumbai have been cured of the deadly viral infection, a senior civic official said on Tuesday.
"Twelve coronavirus patients have now tested negative for the infection. They were being treated at various civic-run hospitals here for last some days," PTI quoted Daksha Shah, deputy director of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) health department, as saying.
"In the last couple of days, we noticed these 12 patients getting better. Their fresh swab samples were sent for tests and the results came out negative," another BMC official said. Hence, the authorities have decided to discharge them soon, the official added.
