Nagpur | Jagran News Desk: In what could be huge concern for the government, local transmission of the novel coronavirus has been noticed seen in some pockets of Maharashtra's Nagpur, reported news agency ANI.
The transmission, however, could not be classified as community transmission as it would mean a bigger area of transmission, sources said, as reported by ANI, while adding that the transmission is 'limited'.
"What we have found that about 10 of the 1,300 samples from Nagpur tested positive which indicates limited local transmission of COVID-19 has begun. We have seen this Maharashtra, for example in the pockets of Nagpur. We have strengthened our testing strategies," the sources said, as quoted by ANI.

The sources further said that this is the reason why the government is appealing to maintain social distancing. Field work for containment of affected areas being conducted and testing strategies implemented, the sources said.
"For instance, these small crowded areas could be hospital OPD, metro, buses, any particular cluster of any particular area. That is why the government is appealing to people to maintain social distancing of one meter from each other," sources further said.
"To combat the spread of the virus, we need proper planning intervention. We are conducting solid fieldwork for the containment of the affected area and have testing strategies," they added.
The deadly coronavirus, which originated from China's Wuhan, has affected more than 250 people in India and killed four in the country. Maharashtra has been the worst-hit state in the nation with 63 cases, including three foreign nationals.
In wake of the alarming situation, the state government has imposed a clampdown in several parts of the state. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday ordered all private offices, shops and commercial establishments to shut down in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, besides slashing the attendance in government offices to 25 per cent and cancelling all examinations from Class 1 to 8.
