New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: The coronavirus has created a havoc around the globe forcing the people to adapt social distancing in order to stop further spread of the deadly virus, which has killed 9,000 people globally and infected over 2 lakh people.

In India, the confirmed cases reached 205 on Friday, with 5 deaths so far. From shutting public places to schools and colleges and even restaurants, the government is doing every bit to stop the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus.

Now, taking the initiative to promote social distancing, restaurant aggregator and food delivery service provider, Zomato has started contactless delivery option on its platform for any meal your order on Zomato.

The new update has already been rolled out for the iPhone and is available on Apple App Store. In the contactless delivery system, every order you place on Zomato, you will get an option of choosing contactless delivery. After choosing the option, the Zomato delivery executive will follow your order and leave your food package on a clean surface outside your home. He will also click a picture of the order and send it you, after which you can easily pick up that package without contacting the delivery executive.

Zomato’s contactless delivery option is only available on prepaid orders, and not on any pay on delivery orders. The contacless delivery will be available for all restaurants offering food at home through Zomato.

The idea behind starting this service is to promote the awareness regarding the deadly coronavirus and also to promote the habit of social distancing during the crucial times, when the coronavirus is spreading at a rapid pace.

Apart from this, Zomato will also remind everyone who has placed an order to wash their hands after they receive their food. The new update will soon be available on for the Android users at Google Play Store.
