After crushing defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections has triggered chaos within the All India Trinamool Congress, with several leaders now openly criticising the party leadership and questioning the role of Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee in the collapse. The growing unrest surfaced just a day after Suvendu Adhikari was sworn in as the new Chief Minister.

The biggest blow came from within the party’s own ranks. The All India Trinamool Congress, the party suspended three spokespersons for six years over alleged anti-party remarks made after the election loss.

One of them, Riju Dutta, released a video on X apologising to Suvendu Adhikari and other BJP leaders for his earlier "abusive" comments. Dutta claimed he was pressured and threatened by leaders within the TMC to target Adhikari when he was the Leader of Opposition. He also said the BJP stood by him and offered protection during difficult times. The party had summoned him before a disciplinary committee, but he did not appear.

Former cricketer and ex-minister Manoj Tiwary also made explosive allegations against the party, claiming that candidates were asked to pay Rs 5 crore each to secure TMC tickets in the 2026 Assembly elections. Tiwary said he refused to pay the amount.

The former Sports and Youth Affairs minister further criticised senior TMC leader Aroop Biswas, accusing him of lacking understanding of sports administration. Biswas had earlier faced criticism over the handling of Lionel Messi’s Kolkata visit last year, which reportedly ended in chaos due to poor management.

Meanwhile, spokespersons Kohinoor Majumdar and Kartik Ghosh were also suspended for allegedly violating party discipline. Kohinoor Majumdar had publicly said, "Party leaders had to wait for hours to meet Abhishek Banerjee."
