Odisha, Bengal Weather Forecast
The weather department has forecast heavy rains and thunderstorms in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 60 to 70 kmph during this period, news agency PTI reported.
Although the precise landfall location remains uncertain, early indications point to Andhra Pradesh bearing the brunt of the storm, while Odisha is expected to witness heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds. However, the MeT department has said that the cyclone’s exact track and intensity will become clearer within the next 24 hours.
Southern, central, and coastal Odisha are likely to experience heavy rainfall and squally weather for the next three days, according to weather experts.
“The system is likely to intensify into a depression on October 25, a deep depression on October 26 and a cyclone by October 27 morning. The system is likely to impact Andhra Pradesh, but Odisha will experience heavy rainfall. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected on October 27, 28 and 29 in the coastal region,” PTI quoted IMD Bhubaneswar Director Manorama Mohanty as saying.
“Few places in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri districts are likely to witness heavy rainfall on October 27. Most places in Odisha are expected to witness rainfall on October 28 and 29,” Mohanty added.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel and follow official weather updates to avoid inconvenience.
