Cyclone Ditwah: A weather system over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the nearby Sri Lankan coast intensified into a deep depression on Thursday. Meteorologists have warned it could further intensify into a ‘cyclonic storm’ by the evening. The system is expected to slightly impact weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Delhi over the next few days.

Cyclone Ditwah

In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that Cyclone Ditwah has formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal and near Pottuvil, 700 km from Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

The system is likely to move north-northwest, reaching the seas off the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry-south Andhra Pradesh coasts by early November 30. South Tamil Nadu and Delta districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall on Thursday, with rainfall set to intensify across the state from Friday onwards.

The weather department has put several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvallur, and Thanjavur, on yellow and orange alert on November 27, 28 and 29, Jagran.com reported.

Will It Impact UP, Delhi And Bihar Weather?

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued any updates on Cyclone Ditwah’s impact on Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar. However, the system is likely to bring rainfall to several regions of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, potentially intensifying the cold conditions.

Residents of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are expected to see cloudy skies with little to no rainfall in the coming days. Farmers in these regions have been advised to follow official weather updates closely.

No severe weather warnings have been issued for Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar so far, and officials will continue to monitor the system as it strengthens. Meanwhile, temperatures continue to decrease across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, with the IMD warning that the cold spell may intensify in the coming days, the report added.
