Darshan Thoogudeepa News: Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is an accused in the case pertaining to the abduction and murder of his purported fan Renukaswamy, is likely to be released from jail by Wednesday evening, his lawyer said after the Karnataka High Court granted interim bail to the Kannada actor on medical grounds. The six-week interim bail has been granted so the accused can undergo spine surgery.

"We have told the court that he will be treated at the Apollo Hospital in Mysuru. The family of Darshan will decide on where he will get the treatment. All due procedures will be followed. If all procedures are completed, Darshan will come out of the prison by the evening," Darshan's counsel, Sunil, was quoted as saying by news agency IANS.

RENUKASWAMY MURDER CASE: PAVITHRA GOWDA STILL IN JAIL

Darshan is lodged in Ballari prison. He was arrested on June 11. His friend Pavithra Gowda is among the 16 other accused in the sensational case. Pavithra is lodged in Bengaluru prison. As per the findings of the probe into the murder case, Renukaswamy, a resident of Karnataka's Chitradurga, was kidnapped, brought to Bengaluru, and kept in a shed.

He was allegedly tortured to death and his body was later dumped near a gutter. The probe suggests that Darshan and his associates tortured Renukaswamy over an allegedly derogatory message he purportedly sent to Pavithra on Instagram. The police have named Pavithra as the accused number one. Renukaswamy's body was found in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya on June 9.
