The day after clashes in Bihar, the BJP and Congress workers entered into a scuffle at the latter's party office in Surat over an abusive sloganeering against PM Modi from a stage of Rahul Gandhi's Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar's Darbhanga.
The video of the clashes has surfaced on social media, where the workers of both national parties could be seen engaged in violence. The police personnel were present on the spot, who were trying to pacify the workers and take control of the situation.
The workers of both parties were seen sloganeering at the site. Earlier on Friday, the workers of the parties clashed in Bihar's Patna. The video of the incident showed them fighting with sticks and stones.
After the police efforts, the situation was brought under control, but Congress workers sat on a dharna outside Sadaqat Ashram protesting what they called "goondagardi" (hooliganism) of the BJP.
Abusive slogans were raised against PM Modi and his mother from the stage of Rahul Gandhi's Bihar Yatra on Thursday. The incident drew flak from the leaders of the BJP and its NDA allies alike. Despite mounting pressure, Congress and its leaders were seen targeting the BJP while downplaying the saffron party's demand for an apology. There was no criticism of the sloganeering from any senior leader of the grand old party either.
Congress has alleged that the BJP is using the issue unnecessarily to deflect from the 'vote chori', which, according to them, is a bigger issue.
A case has been filed in the incident based on a complaint by a BJP functionary. The accused has been arrested and identified as Mohammad Rizvi alias Raja.
After the violent clash, Gandhi posted on X, "Falsehood and violence cannot stand before truth and non-violence. Beat and break as much as you want, but we [Congress] will continue to protect truth and the Constitution. Satyameva Jayate."
