Delhi AQI Update: While residents of Delhi continue to struggle with persistent ‘very poor’ air quality, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) AQI data shows slight improvement from yesterday. Delhi’s air quality has improved by 21 points from 387 at 8 am on December 21 to 366 at 8 am on Monday, December 22.
However, the city continues to remain under the ‘very poor’ category for an AQI above 300.
A large part of the city was enveloped in a thick layer of toxic smog, severely affecting visibility and creating health issues such as a sore throat, blocked nose, and others.
In view of the deteriorating air quality, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) activated all measures under Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi-NCR, which is imposed in the most severe air pollution period
CPCB data from multiple air quality monitoring stations across Delhi showed that the air remained in the ‘severe’ category in several areas.
Delhi Smog Level Today: Station-Wise Air Quality In Delhi
- The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) measures the air quality in the national capital through 40 air quality monitoring stations across Delhi.
- 8 monitoring stations across 40 stations recorded ‘severe’ air quality, as Jahangirpur, Anand Vihar, Rohini, among others, choked with a dense layer of smog in the sky and air quality index above 400. The number of areas with the ‘severe’ category of air quality has reduced significantly since pollution curbs were imposed.
- None of the 40 stations recorded only ‘poor’ air quality, which is below 300.
