Delhi Airport Flight Status: 51 flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Friday morning amid foggy conditions, as per the flightradar24 data at 11 am. These included 35 departures and 16 arrivals. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for dense to very dense fog in many parts of Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh on Friday, January 2, due to which visibility may drop to 50 metres.

As per IMD, the minimum temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the next two days in Delhi. The IMD has issued an orange alert for dense to very dense fog at many places across the city. The minimum temperature today is expected to fall by a few degrees Celsius, ranging from 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Air India Advisory

Air India and IndiGo issued advisories for its passengers in advance on Thursday in view of the expected flight delays and cancellations.

“Due to predicted dense fog and reduced visibility in Delhi and parts of Northern India tomorrow morning, flight schedules may be impacted, causing ripple effects across the network,” Air India posted on X on Thursday.

“Passengers booked on select flights during the fog window will continue to receive advance alerts under our FogCare initiative, with the option to change flights without additional payment or seek a full refund without penalty,” it added.

IndiGo Advisory

“Early-morning fog is expected to affect visibility across Delhi. A few flights scheduled for tomorrow have been cancelled in advance to help reduce waiting time at the airport,” IndiGo had given its passengers a heads up on Thursday.

Cold wave conditions in Delhi are expected to persist until January 5. Meanwhile, a yellow alert for dense fog is in place for eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar on January 2. Visibility is expected to be very low in the morning in Gaya, Bihar, and several districts of UP.

Dense fog may occur in isolated areas over northern Madhya Pradesh on January 2 and 3. Temperatures may drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
