Indore Water Contamination: The report of the samples tested by MGM Medical College and the municipal corporation's lab has concluded that the water contained deadly bacteria directly found in human feces. The report on Thursday revealed that bacteria like E. coli and Shigella were found in the water, which was supplied to Indore's Bhagirathpura in the name of Narmada water supply.

Collector Shivam Verma himself confirmed the horrific negligence, according to a report by Jagran.com. Meanwhile, with the death of another person on Thursday, the death toll has risen to 15.

There was a stir on Monday when more than 150 people in the neighborhood fell ill due to the consumption of contaminated water. By Tuesday, eight people lost their lives. So far, nearly 2,800 patients have been identified, of whom 201 are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

Thirty-two patients are admitted to the ICU, and their condition is said to be critical. On Thursday, Bhagiratha Pura also reported cases of vomiting and diarrhea. Most were discharged after first aid. Only a few patients had to be admitted.

CM confirmed contamination

Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav confirmed the evidence of contamination due to leakage and vowed action against negligence.

An ex gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh has been announced to the next of kin of the deceased. Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya handed over cheques of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of four deceased on Thursday. Residents expressed their displeasure, claiming the government was undercounting the actual number of deaths.

Vijayvargiya acknowledged that the actual number could be higher and assured them that assistance would be provided after investigating the deaths due to diarrhea.
