Delhi Airport News: Six flights were cancelled and nearly 200 others were delayed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International airport on Monday morning as dense fog in the Delhi-NCR region triggered zero-visibility. Six flights were cancelled while almost 144 departures and 51 arrivals were delayed at the IGI Airport, according to FlightRadar24 data viewed at around 8:45 am.

Airlines issued advisories urging passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport as operations continue to be conducted under CAT III procedures.

Delhi Airport Advisory 

"Flight operations are currently being conducted under CAT III conditions due to dense fog, which may result in delays or cancellations. Our ground teams are on-site and actively assisting passengers to ensure a smooth travel experience. For the latest flight updates, please contact your respective airlines,” Delhi airport said on X on Monday.

IndiGo Advisory

IndiGo Airlines in its advisory stated that operations may be slower than usual at Delhi and Hindon airport on Monday. “Once the weather settles, operations will gradually stabilise, and flights will depart as planned. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to welcoming you onboard soon,” IndiGo posted on X.

Air India Advisory

Air India had issued an advisory on Sunday evening in view of IMD’s forecast for foggy conditions. “If you are flying with us tomorrow, we encourage you to check your flight status here before heading to the airport and allow extra time for your journey,” Air India said.

SpiceJet Advisory

SpiceJet alerted its passengers that departures and arrivals might get affected due to weather conditions. The airline also asked passengers to check flight status before heading to the airport.

Cold Wave Grips North India

Due to the activation of a western disturbance, dense fog and a cold wave have gripped most parts of North India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that the weather will remain consistently cold until December 31, while daytime temperatures are expected to rise from the first day of the new year. Meanwhile, pollution levels in Delhi reached the severe category on Monday morning. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in the capital on Monday at 7 am was 402.
