IndiGo Flight Disruptions: At least 200 IndiGo flights were cancelled on Wednesday from major airports in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. While 42 flights were cancelled at the IGI Airport in Delhi, around 40 flights were cancellations at Bengaluru's Kempegowda Airport. A similar situation was witnessed in Mumbai and Hyderabad, where dozens of flights were cancelled today.

The cancellations came after a chaotic situation unfolded earlier in the day at various airports in major cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, due to a range of issues, including a snag in the check-in systems.

IndiGo cited various reasons behind the cancellations and delays, including technology issues, airport congestion, and operational requirements. The airline has made changes to its schedule to contain the disruptions, and the measures will remain in place for 48 hours to normalise operations.

Our teams are working diligently to ensure that operations normalise as soon as possible. Furthermore, we are offering alternate flight options or refunds to affected customer, as applicable," the airline said.

Flights connecting Hyderabad to Delhi, Bengaluru, Goa, Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Hubbali, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Madurai were among those affected.

IndiGo Initiates 'Calibrated Adjustments' To Contain Disruptions:

Following massive disruptions and backlash from passengers, the airline said that it has initiated "calibrated adjustments" to its schedule for the next 48 hours in order to normalise operations. The carrier, which operates around 2,300 flights daily, will be cancelling and rescheduling flights as part of the adjustments for the next 48 hours.

These measures will remain in place for the next 48 hours and will allow the airline to normalise operations and progressively recover punctuality across the network, it said. IndiGo, which is known for its punctuality, recorded an On Time Performance (OTP) score of 35 per cent on December 2, according to the latest official data.

"Our teams are working around the clock to ease customer discomfort and ensure operations stabilize as quickly as possible. Furthermore, the affected customers are being offered alternate travel arrangements to reach their destinations or refunds, as applicable," it said in a second statement.
