The Indian National Congress announced its decision to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections independently, ruling out any alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). While addressing the media, Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav stated that the party would contest all 70 seats on its own. He reiterated that there would be no alliance with any other party for these elections, a stance that could pose a setback for AAP. Yadav further emphasized that the Congress Legislative Party would decide the Chief Ministerial candidate only after the elections. The elections for the 70-seat Delhi Assembly are scheduled for February 2025.

AAP Chief and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal compared the upcoming elections to a dharamyudh (a righteous war), drawing parallels to the Mahabharata. Speaking to district-level party office bearers in Chandni Chowk earlier this month, he said, "The Delhi Assembly election is like a dharamyudh. They (opponents) have immense money and power like the Kauravas, but God and the people are with us, just as they were with the Pandavas."

The committees, announced on November 28, will handle tasks such as nomination, media relations, campaign strategy, social media, documentation, data management, special outreach efforts, and logistics. BJP Delhi State President Virendra Sachdeva directed the formation of these committees and announced their members.
