A Bengaluru-bound Air India flight, which took off from Delhi with 172 persons on board was diverted to Bhopal after a technical snag was reported on Monday, an official said. The aircraft made a safe landing under emergency conditions at the Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal.
Providing information about the emergency landing, the airport officials said that the flight (AIC 2487, A320 Neo, VT-EXO) was diverted to Bhopal after a warning was reported in the cargo hold of the plane. The officials added that standard safety procedures were followed, and a full emergency was declared at 07:33 PM.
The flight landed safely at 08:00 PM. The officials stated, "Following standard safety procedures, a full emergency was declared at 1933 IST. A few minutes later, the crew confirmed that the warning had cleared and all aircraft systems were normal. The flight landed safely at 2000 IST with 172 persons on board. All operations are normal."

The diversion was handled promptly by Air Traffic Control, Airport Fire Services, and airlines at Bhopal Airport. Operations were not affected, said Airport Director Ramji Awasthi.
Earlier in the day, an Air India flight operating from San Francisco to Delhi made an emergency landing at Mongolia's Ulaanbaatar airport after the crew noticed a possible technical issue.
The aircraft, identified as a Boeing 777 on the flight tracking platform Flightradar24, landed safely, and all passengers were reported to be safe.
According to Air India, the flight crew decided to make a precautionary landing after they suspected a technical snag during the journey. The airline confirmed that the aircraft is currently undergoing detailed inspections by engineers. Passengers are being assisted, and efforts are underway to arrange their onward travel to Delhi at the earliest.
