Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has been admitted to RML Nursing Home after his health deteriorated following a dip in the polluted Yamuna river two days ago, jagran.com reported. On Saturday morning, Sachdeva complained of difficulty in breathing and severe skin irritation. Virendra Sachdeva on Thursday took dips in the Yamuna river at ITO Ghat and challenged Delhi chief minister Atishi and AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal to do the same. Sachdeva blamed Kejriwal and Atishi for the pollution in the Yamuna River.
According to the Delhi BJP, Virendra Sachdeva is suffering from severe itching and difficulty in breathing. As per Sachdeva, he never had breathing problems and skin irritation before.
APP Alleges That BJP Is Staging A Drama
Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai wished Virendra Sachdeva a speedy recovery after he fell ill. However he said that the pollution in Yamuna will not reduce with the drama of BJP.
"BJP is the party that creates pollution and it understands that only drama can reduce pollution, I think all the governments and all the parties need to work together. How has he fallen ill? I wish for their good health, but I want to request this. Pollution cannot be reduced by staging this drama. This shows what is the level of thinking of the leaders of BJP. When I was making the winter action plan, I had written a letter to the BJP President but till date, no suggestion has come..." said Delhi minister Gopal Rai, as quoted by news agency ANI.
Sachdeva claimed that the AAP leadership is habitual of a lavish lifestyle, and hence the saffron party has arranged a red carpet for them. "We have arranged red carpet as people who used to live in Sheesh Mahal get habituated to the red carpet as they are 'Shahi' people. We have arranged two chairs as this tradition was started by Atishi herself, so if she comes, she will need two chairs. If Arvind Kejriwal will come, we will be happy. Although he is on bail, he was the CM. They should give an account of Rs 8,500 crores that was given by the central government to clean Yamuna. We will wait for some more time if they come," Sachdeva had stated.
Responding to the allegations, Delhi minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that as far as industrial waste in Yamuna is concerned, there is no industry in Delhi. He said, “Industrial waste is coming from the drains of Panipat and Sonipat. This has been confirmed and NGT has also said this many times. If Virendra Sachdeva is serious about this then he should talk to the Haryana government and stop the industrial waste from coming from Sonipat and Panipat.”
A layer of white froth has formed on the surface of Yamuna amid pollution ahead of Chhath pooja. The BJP claimed that the Delhi government did nothing before the festival in which people took dips in the river. However, the AAP blamed the BJP for doing pity politics and claimed that the saffron party ruling states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh were responsible for the pollution in the capital city. "The BJP is responsible for the growing air and water pollution in Delhi," said CM Atishi, referring to the industrial activities and stubble burning.
However, Virendra Sachdeva claimed that Punjab, where AAP is the ruling party, has registered more cases of stubble burning in comparison to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. AAP, in response, accused BJP of misrepresenting the facts. "It's disgraceful that the BJP misrepresents the facts. The central government’s data shows that while Punjab has made significant progress in reducing stubble burning, pollution in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh has increased," AAP said in a statement.
