Founder of Al-Falah University and chairman of the Al-Falah Group, Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday. He was arrested under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), official sources confirmed.
The arrest comes after a long-running probe into alleged financial irregularities linked to the university and the group. Siddiqui was taken into custody after intensive questioning at the agency’s Delhi office.

Jawad Arrested After Massive Search Operation
An ECIR-based probe was carried out at premises linked to the Al-Falah University, and the arrest was followed by a detailed examination of material gathered during searches in Delhi-NCR against the trustees and promoters of Al-Falah University.
The university is at the centre of an investigation into the Delhi Red Fort Blast as the alleged suicide bomber is said to have a connection with the university.
Jawad Siddiqui is being produced before the competent court for remand, news agency PTI reported, quoting officials. The search operation began at 5:15 am today, and as per sources, Rs 48 lakh in cash was recovered during the search.
Several teams of federal agencies carried out a search operation at 25 locations linked with Al Falah Trust and the University. A search operation was also carried out at the Okhla office with high security.
'Al-Falah Trust Role Under Investigation': ED Official
"The operation forms part of an ongoing investigation into financial irregularities, use of shell companies, accommodation entities and money laundering. The role of Al-Falah Trust and related entities is under investigation," an ED official was quoted as saying by PTI.
Al-Falah Red Fort Blast Connection
Several doctors arrested in connection with the Delhi Red Fort Blast have allegedly had connections with Al-Falah University. Dr Umar Nabi, the suicide bomber and the key accused of the Red Fort blast, which killed 13 people, had links with Al-Falah University.
Officials said the ED is probing at least nine shell companies linked to the Al-Falah Group, all registered at the same address.
The Al-Falah University, which runs a medical college and hospital, is located in the Dhouj area of Faridabad, Haryana.
