Delhi Blast: After a massive blast shook the vicinity of the iconic Red Fort and claimed the lives of at least 9 people and injured several others, the association of the neighbouring market of Chandni Chowk has announced to keep the market closed on Tuesday.

Market association president Sanjay Bhargaw said, "Chandni Chowk market to be closed on Tuesday following the blast near Red Fort."

The high-intensity blast took place at around 6:52 PM when a slow-moving car stopped at a red light, followed by a loud explosion. The LNJP Hospital was put on high alert, and the bodies of the victims and injured were brought in there.

The hospital has been closed to patients and is on high alert in the wake of the tragic incident.

Soon after the incident, six to seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Apart from the Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Police, Crime Branch, Forensics and other agencies have also visited the site and started the investigation.

As part of the measures taken, the national capital and all surrounding areas of the NCR have been put on high alert.

UP DGP has also put the entire state on high alert with ramped-up security and checks going on at airports and railway stations.

PM Narendra Modi has taken stock of the situation. He spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah. Shah on the other hand, immediately spoke with the Delhi Police Commissioner after the incident. Teams from the NSG, NIA, and forensic department were rushed to the spot. The Home Minister remains in continuous touch with the IB Director regarding the Delhi incident.
