Delhi Car Blast: As the probe into the Delhi car blast deepens, investigators are now trying to trace the final moments of Dr Umar Un Nabi, the man driving the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 car that killed 13 and injured nearly two dozen others. The National Investigation Agency (NIA), for the first time, on Sunday, described Nabi as the “suicide bomber”.
In their attempt to trace the alleged bomber’s final moments, investigators are finding the last two mobile phones used by Nabi. Earlier, the probe revealed that a total of five SIM cards were linked to him, Hindustan Times reported.
Additionally, the NIA brought the arrested accused, Amir Rashid Ali, to the Patiala High Court in Delhi following his detention yesterday. He was arrested for allegedly conspiring with the ‘suicide bomber’ to carry out the terror attack near the Red Fort metro station on Monday, November 10.
Delhi Blast: 2 Phones, 5 SIMs And 65 CCTV
- Umar Nabi used two phones between October 30 and November 10, and both devices are currently missing, Hindustan Times quoted sources as saying.
- Although he was linked to a total of five SIM cards, these last two phone numbers are considered the key to the case, as they trace the final moments and activities of the Pulwama doctor.
- According to a report by Hindustan Times, all five SIM cards were deactivated on October 30, the same day his close associate, Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganaie, was detained.
- A joint team of the NIA, Delhi Police Special Cell and Jammu and Kashmir Police scanned a total of 65 CCTV cameras to reconstruct the final moments of Nabi.
- Footage from a CCTV camera in Dhauj market, 800m from Al-Falah University, shows the alleged bomber sitting inside a medical store with a black bag and two phones on October 30, the report added.

- The footage shows Nabi handing one phone to the shop owner for charging while retaining the second in his hand. This suggests that one device was for general use, and the second was strictly for operational communication.
- The Hyundai i20 car and Umar Un Nabi were spotted outside an ATM in Ferozepur Jhirka in Nuh early on the day of the blast.
