Delhi Blast Updates: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday made a major breakthrough in the Delhi car blast case by arresting a Kashmir resident, who had allegedly conspired with the "suicide bomber" Dr Umar Un Nabi to carry out the terror attack, which killed 13 people and left over two dozen injured.
A powerful explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station on the evening of November 10, 2025, claimed at least 13 lives and injured nearly two dozen others. The detonation, which the government later described as a “heinous terror incident”, caused extensive damage to the nearby vehicles and scattered wreckage across the congested area.
Delhi Car Blast: What We Know So Far
- The NIA arrested Amir Rashid Ali from Delhi, who has been identified as the individual in whose name the car used in the explosion was registered.
- Investigation revealed that Amir Rashid Ali, a resident of Samboora, Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, had conspired with "suicide bomber" Umar to carry out the terror attack, news agency PTI reported.
- The NIA further stated that Amir had travelled to Delhi to facilitate the purchase of the Hyundai i20 car, which was later used as a "vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED)" to trigger the blast.
- The probe agency, for the first time, described Dr Umar Un Nabi, who was driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort on November 10, as a “suicide bomber”.
- The NIA has, for the first time, used the term “vehicle-borne IED” for the car. The agency also forensically established the identity of the deceased driver of the car as Umar Un Nabi, an assistant professor of general medicine at Al Falah University in Faridabad and a resident of Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir.
- The probe agency has also seized another vehicle belonging to Umar for examination. In the ongoing Delhi blast case, the NIA has already examined 73 witnesses, including those injured.
- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had taken over the case from the Delhi Police, following which the federal probe agency launched a massive search operation in collaboration with the Delhi Police, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Haryana Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and various sister agencies.
