Delhi Red Fort Blast: At least 9 people were killed and several others have sustained injuries and are receiving medical assistance after a massive explosion took place in a car near Red Fort metro station gate number 1 in Delhi, on Monday evening.

As soon as a high-intensity blast in a moving i20 car, registered in Haryana, took place, the injured and dead were rushed to the hospital. As per the information received, several people were brought dead to the hospital.

Hours after the incident took place, the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) hospital in Delhi released a list of those killed and injured. While the majority of the dead people are yet to be identified, the hospital has released a list of 9 people who were brought dead to the hospital, including only the body of an individual.

All Deceased Declared Brought Dead

As per the list released by the hospital, all the deceased were between the ages of 28 and 35, except one, who was 52 years old. The age of an individual, brought only with a body part to the hospital, could not be ascertained.redfortblast (2)

Two people have been identified as 34-year-old Ashok Kumar, from Amroha, UP and 35-year-old Amar Kataria from Delhi.

Red Fort Explosion: 20 People Injured

While, the information about the number of people injured and in critical condition, the list released by the LNJP hospital says that 20 people have sustained injuries in the massive explosrion.redfortblast (3)

Few hours after the fatal incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached LNJP hospital to take stock of the situation and met the injured people.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha told reporters, "Today at 6.52 pm a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light. An explosion happened in that vehicle and, due to the explosion, nearby vehicles were also damaged. Some people have died and some have been injured."
