Delhi Blast: A multi-agency-led investigation across several states was launched after a massive blast near the historic Red Fort, claiming at least eight people's lives, and leaving several others injured. While speaking to reporters, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that a blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi at 7 pm on Monday.

The explosion was so powerful that its sound was heard as far as Tilak Bridge, about five kilometres away. The vibration was felt within a one-kilometre radius. Windows of houses, shops, and offices were shattered in the busy area. A large number of birds were seen flying from Old Delhi and Rajghat towards New Delhi. Civic Center employees also reported hearing the explosion.

Radhe Shyam Mishra, president of the Bhagirath Palace Traders Association, said that not only were the windows of several shops in their market broken, but a strong tremor was also felt. People continued discussing the explosion for a long time, wondering what it was. Half an hour after initial speculation about a tyre burst or cylinder blast, it was confirmed that the explosion had occurred in front of the Red Fort.

Blast After Recovery Of 2,900 Kg Of Explosives In Faridabad

The blast in Old Delhi occurred hours after police arrested a Kashmiri doctor in Faridabad and seized 2,900 kg of explosives and a huge cache of arms and ammunition. Muzammil Ganaie alias Musaib, a native of Koil in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama working as a doctor at the Al Falah University that also houses a hospital on its campus, was arrested in a joint operation by Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

White Collar Terror Module

The Al Falah University at Dhouj in Haryana's Faridabad district, around 45 km from Delhi, is a private institute recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). In total, eight people, including three doctors, were arrested and 2,900 kg of explosives seized with the uncovering of a white collar terror module involving the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind and spanning Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, officials said.

These Points Indicate That It Was A Terrorist Attack:

1. The intensity of the explosion and the nature of the debris suggest that a high-intensity explosive like RDX was used, and not an explosion caused by a normal fuel leak, however, the exact nature of the blast is being probed and official report on the explosion is awaited.

2. The intensity of the explosion was so strong that the sound was heard as far as ITO, about four kilometers away.

3. The i20 car with a Haryana license plate, in which the explosion occurred, was completely destroyed.

4. Car parts were scattered up to 250 meters away from the blast site.

5. Windows of several shops towards Chandni Chowk, in front of the Red Fort, were shattered.
