Delhi BMW Crash: Gaganpreet Kaur, the accused in the BMW accident in Delhi has claimed that crash was "wholly accidental" and unintentional, ANI reported on Tuesday. Kaur also stated that she has no criminal antecedents, adding that she is a mother of two girls, who are minors.

Kaur was arrested following a fatal accident that resulted in the death of Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs. The accident occurred on Delhi’s Ring Road when Singh’s motorcycle was struck by Kaur’s BMW. At the time, Singh and his wife were returning home from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. His wife suffered serious injuries.

Earlier, the medical report established that Gaganpreet Kaur was not under the influence of alcohol while she was driving. The blood sample report of the accused has turned out to be negative for alcohol consumption, as per the Delhi Police.

Delhi BMW Crash Highlights

- Gaganpreet Kaur's counsel advocate Vikas Pahwa claimed that the FIR in the incident contradicts what the DCP said in his press conference.

- Pahwa claimed the FIR was registered 10 hours after the incident. The incident happened at 1:30 pm and an FIR was filed at 11:30 pm, he added. "The information in the FIR contradicts the press conference of the DCP. It seems incorrect," the advocate said.

- Pahwa opposed her arrest, saying if someone dies because of rash and negligent driving, then it is a bailable offence.

- Kaur was sent to two days of judicial custody by the Delhi court after she was produced before the judge at her residence.

- The victim's family members questioned the handling of the aftermath of the crash. The FIR alleged that Kaur, took the victims to a healthcare facility more than 19 kilometres away from the accident site instead of any nearby hospital.

- Gaganpreet Kaur and her husband were treated before Navjot and his wife, despite their serious injuries, they alleged.

- The accused took Navjot Singh and his wife to Nulife Hospital, which is owned by one of her relatives, in north Delhi's GTB Nagar, more than 19 kilometres away from the accident site.
