Weather In Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain in Chennai till September 19. The weather body has issued a yellow alert in this regard. The city has been witnessing showers over the past few days causing waterlogging issues in low-lying areas. Traffic is also expected to be impacted in the coming days as rain activity continues.

“Widespread rains over Chennai and suburbs. The heaviest spells are possibly over. Light rains / drizzles may continue for the next couple of hours before stopping. #WxwithCOMK update for the day will follow,” stated a solo weather forecast on X.

“Huge and blinding rains lashing many parts of #Chennai and suburbs with very very very high rain rates and moreover the lightning and thunders are too loud and too much that it can be really dangerous !! Please stay safe and alert !! @chennairains #tnrains,” said another solo forecast on X.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast

September 16: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Salem, Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts.

September 17: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Tiruchirappalli, Theni, Dindigul, Erode, Nilgiris, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai districts. Showers also likely in Puducherry and Karaikal area.

September 18: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu districts.

September 19: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Vellore and Kancheepuram districts.
