Tamil Nadu Weather: Heavy rain continues to lash parts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, triggering traffic jams and waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert and warned of the possibility of rain in Chennai and several other districts on Thursday.

According to the Meteorological Department, “An atmospheric circulation is prevailing over the north coastal Tamil Nadu areas up to a height of about 1.5 km. A trough is prevailing over the Tamil Nadu areas from the south interior of Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar at a height of about 0.9 km."

These Tamil Nadu Districts Will See Rain Today

Heavy rain with thunder, lightning, and strong winds of up to 50 km/h is likely in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Erode, as well as parts of other districts, on Thursday.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Ariyalur, Chengalpattu, Chennai, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dharmapuri, Dindigul, Erode, Kallakurichi, Kanchipuram, Kanniyakumari, Karur, Krishnagiri, Madurai, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Perambalur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Ranipet, Salem, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Thanjavur, Theni, Thiruvallur, Thiruvarur, Thoothukudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Tirupattur, Tiruppur, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Viluppuram, and Virudhunagar for today.

Light rain with thunder, lightning, and strong winds is likely at a few places in the rest of Tamil Nadu along with Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast for Next Few Days

October 2: Light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and South Tamil Nadu, as well as in the rest of the districts, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

October 3 and 4: Light to moderate rain is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and South Tamil Nadu, including Puducherry and Karaikal.

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is likely to be around 36-37 degrees C, and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 27-28 degrees C.
