Weather Update: IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert For Karnataka, Tamil Nadu; Will It Rain In Delhi? Check Forecast

Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for 22 states across the country on Wednesday. Along with heavy rain, the western and southern states are also likely to receive thunderstorms and gutsy winds in the coming days. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during rain to avoid inconveniences.

Rain Likely In These States

In its advisory, the IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. It further stated that strong winds with speeds of up to 70 kilometers per hour is expected during this period.

Will It Rain In Delhi?

The weather department has also issued a rain and thunderstorm alert for Delhi and nearby cities, including Noida and Gurugram. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 33 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 22 degrees Celsius.

UP Weather Update

Apart from this, heavy rain and thunderstorm alert has been issued for several districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura, Kanpur, Bahraich, Balrampur, Shravasti, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Pilibhit, Lakhimpur, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly and Gorakhpur.

IMD Issues Alert For Karnataka

The weather department stated that several districts of Karnataka, including Davanagere, Vijayanagar, Chitradurga, Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru, Belgaum, Dharwad and Haveri are set to experience light to heavy rainfall at least till October 3.

Tamil Nadu Rain Alert

As per the forecast, moderate rainfall is expected in 16 districts of Tamil Nadu, such as Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruchirappalli and Perambalur. Apart from this, Chennai and nearby regions are expected to receive light to moderate rain, the weather department added.
