Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the western districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the coming days. Along with the rain, these regions are also expected to receive thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning. However, the larger parts of the state are likely to experience dry conditions in the coming days, the IMD added.
Rain Likely In These Districts
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Chennai, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Vellore, Tirupattur, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Salem, Dharmapuri, Namakkal, Erode, and Karur are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall today. Apart from this, multiple regions of Puducherry and Karaikal are also expected to witness similar weather conditions.
The continuous rainfall in these regions is expected to cause waterlogging in the lower regions, causing inconveniences to the locals. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rain for the next two to three days.
Chennai Weather Forecast
As per the IMD, the resident of Chennai are likely to witness cloudy skies throughout the day, with chances of light rain in the late hours. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 36 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 27 degrees Celsius. The fresh rainfall is likely to provide relief from the heat and humidity.
Rain Expected In Other States
The weather department has also warned that the maximum temperature in the dry regions could rise by two to three degrees Celsius between September 26 and 29, leading to health concerns. Along with Tamil Nadu, several other states, including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Odisha are also likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall in the coming days.
