New Delhi Rains: Delhi may have bid farewell to monsoon, but it is yet to receive a three-day rain spell of three days from Saturday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain on Sunday.
The upcoming spell will cause a partial drop in temperature as well. According to the weather department, all three days - September 26 to 28 - will remain generally cloudy.
On Saturday and Sunday, there is a possibility of strong gusty winds at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour, accompanied by lightning and light at many places to moderate rain at isolated places.
On Monday too, there would be light rainfall in the capital. This change in weather is believed to be due to a cyclonic circulation in the lower atmosphere over northwestern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding areas.
Notably, a rainfall of 2.5 to 15.5 mm is considered light rain, while 15.6 mm to 64.4 mm is considered a moderate one. Gurugram and Ghaziabad in the NCR are also expected to witness similar weather conditions during these three days.
Friday forecast
Delhi on Thursday saw a humid, hot day with bright sunshine. The maximum temperature was 35.7 degrees Celsius, 1.4 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 25.9 degrees Celsius, 2.0 degrees above normal. The humidity level ranged from 87 to 53 per cent.
On Friday, the capital is likely to witness pleasant weather with a partly cloudy sky and bright sunshine.
UP weather
In the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh, widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning is likely over the western part of the state on September 26. East Uttar Pradesh is likely to get widespread showers with thunderstorms and lightning from September 24 to 26.
