Delhi Braces For Rain During BRICS Summit; Showers Likely On September 12-13 | IMD Forecast

Delhi is likely to witness light to moderate rainfall during the BRICS Summit, scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13, with authorities closely monitoring the weather conditions.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General Dr Mrityunjay Mahapatra, a low-pressure area is likely to develop over the northern Bay of Bengal around September 11-12. The system could trigger changes in weather conditions, with its impact potentially extending to western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

The weather shift could pose challenges for traffic movement and the movement of visiting delegates during the summit. Preparations are already underway at Bharat Mandapam and along key routes connecting the venue.

Weather agency Skymet Weather has also forecast a change in Delhi’s weather around September 12-13. However, the intensity of rainfall and its potential impact are expected to become clearer closer to the summit.

Amid preparations for the high-profile event, authorities are expected to closely monitor the possibility of rainfall and waterlogging across the capital.

BRICS Summit Scheduled September 11 To 13

The BRICS Business Forum, followed by the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit, will be held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi between September 11 and 13. Heads of over 30 countries, including leaders of the BRICS member and partner nations, International Organizations, and business representatives are anticipated to participate in the tripartite meeting.

Tightened security, along with traffic management policies and movement restrictions, are being strategised throughout the National Capital in conjunction with the three-day event.
