Delhi Blast Latest News: As the investigation into the blast near Delhi’s Red Fort progresses, new details continue to emerge. According to a report by jagran.com, the name of a cleric from Jammu and Kashmir has come under scrutiny. The cleric, identified as Irfan Ahmed, is reportedly a resident of Shopian and is alleged to have played a key role in influencing and radicalising the doctors involved in the case.

As per the report, Irfan Ahmed is believed to have links with members of Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation. Muzamil Shakeel, associated with Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, had met this cleric. Shakeel was the one who was in possession of 2,950 kg of explosives in Faridabad, including the ammonium nitrate used in the car blast carried out by Dr Umar.

Shakeel And Umar Met Cleric In 2023

Shakeel and Umar first met the cleric in 2023 when he was accompanying a patient to a government hospital in Srinagar. The patient's identity and his connection to the terrorist plot have not yet been revealed.

They exchanged phone numbers and communicated through phone calls and messages over the next two years. During these conversations, the cleric radicalised them.

Shakeel And Umar Introduced More Associates To Cleric

Shakeel and Umar introduced some of their associates to this cleric. They tried to radicalise their associates by promoting extremist ideology through the messaging app Telegram. It was Irfan who arranged meetings with Jaish terrorists in South Kashmir.

This meeting is being seen as the first step in the investigation into the Red Fort blast. According to officials quoted by jagran.com involved in the investigation, Jaish terrorists provided these doctors with two assault rifles.

One of these rifles was found in Shaheen Saeed's Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire car. The "terrorist doctor" has the code name "Madam Surgeon." Investigators believe she is a member of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, the women's wing of Jaish-e-Mohammed, which was founded by the Jaish-e-Mohammed founder after Operation Sindoor.

The second weapon was recovered from the locker of Adil Ahmed Rather, another doctor and member of the cell, at the GMC in Srinagar. Rather's activities helped the police break up the cell – he was caught on CCTV putting up posters in support of Jaish in Nowgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Rather was arrested in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, and his interrogation revealed the plot, leading to the arrest of Shakeel, the recovery of explosives, and the identification of Saeed.
